Petstreet.co.uk - building a network around a passion We love a challenge...so what was it? Let’s face it - us Brits are a bit nutty about our pets. They’re part of the family, and just like any family member, we all tend to worry about their health and welfare. We were approached by a company that wanted to promote responsible pet ownership and engage pet lovers. ![]() Crikey, so what on earth did we do? We devised, designed and built petstreet.co.uk, a social network for pet lovers and their (sometimes) weird and (always) wonderful pets. We created an environment in which owners could create profiles for themselves and their pets, express their personalities online and make friends with other owners and pets. We gave users the option to create their own groups, around the subjects they were passionate about, facilitating a system whereby owners could engage others, driving membership and improving site content. We seeded good causes within the network; then left the users to promote the cause virally. And how well did we do it? We won’t boast too much I promise. The site has grown at 40% month on month since launch and the sign up rate has increased by over 400%. There are now 5000 human members on the site and there are over 7000 pets with profiles on the site. There have been just under four million page impressions since launch. The site gets over 200,000 page impressions each month and average time on site is a whopping ten minutes. So where do we go from here? With a business plan in motion to get to 10000 users in 2009, the site is well on its way to the next level. Check out the network now and see what all the fuss is about – petstreet.co.uk |
